We spoke with our colleague Simon Dompeling about Making A Difference. Simon works as a Transformation Lead at YaWorks. How does he make a difference in his work? By building bridges.
"Sharing knowledge and connecting people and technology. That's what I do. As a Transformation Lead, I am responsible for transforming the IT landscape at the client. The central question in my work: where does the client want to go with their IT landscape? And how are we going to organize that together with them? This is where we at YaWorks can really make a difference. And not just because we have a great drive and solid knowledge.
YaWorkers are also capable of actually executing major transition projects. From expertise to execution; that combination is very powerful. Although this can certainly be challenging. Especially with a group of headstrong technicians. The client employs me to bridge the gap between technology and operations. In my work, it is therefore essential to understand what challenges the client is facing. To ultimately find a way through the resistance. How do I do that? By walking the shop floor and talking to everyone. Listening well, showing respect, and giving space. By combining those so-called 'soft skills' with technical expertise, you create connection and get everyone pointing in the same direction - allowing us to present a jointly supported solution, which hopefully leads to success and a satisfied client. Achieving results together and celebrating successes, that's what I love doing most!"
